Guyton City Council Member Arrested for Theft and Fraud

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 26-year-old Theodore Hamby of Guyton, charging him with one count of Theft by Taking and one count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud.

Hamby, a member of the Guyton City Council, was the subject of a theft investigation requested by the Guyton Police Department on February 21, 2025. The investigation determined that Hamby’s charges were linked to his misuse of a city credit card in connection with his role as a council member.

Hamby was booked into the Effingham County Jail following his arrest.
