Couple Arrested in Death of 4-Year-Old in Toombs County

On March 14, 2025, at approximately 7:46 p.m., the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding an unresponsive child. The caller reported transporting the child to the hospital, and Toombs-Montgomery EMS intercepted the vehicle at the Enmarket convenience store in Lyons. EMS personnel began lifesaving efforts before transporting the 4-year-old girl to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Region 12 Office was contacted for assistance, and a joint investigation led to the arrest of Seth Hunter Brown, 26, and Taylor Marie Hughes, 29, both of Lyons. The pair are facing charges of Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree, Aggravated Battery, Felony Murder, and Malice Murder. They are currently in custody at the Toombs County Detention Center.
