Chickamauga Man Arrested After 26 Dead Roosters, Neglected Dogs Found on Property

A Walker County man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty after deputies discovered 26 dead roosters and several neglected dogs at a residence on Garretts Chapel Road.
On March 1, 2025, a Walker County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a vehicle blocking a driveway. During the investigation, deputies found 26 deceased roosters scattered throughout the yard. Additional evidence, including leg tags, gaffs, spurs, and wound-care medication, led authorities to suspect the roosters had been involved in cockfighting.
Inside the property, deputies also found a dog with a broken leg and four other dogs confined without food, water, or proper shelter.
Daniel Keith Bradley, 49, of Garretts Chapel Road, was arrested and booked into the Walker County Detention Facility. He faces multiple charges, including:
- 26 felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals related to the dead roosters.
- One felony count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals for the injured dog.
- Four misdemeanor counts of Cruelty to Animals for the neglected dogs.
Walker County Animal Control assisted in the investigation.
