Drug and Firearms Arrest Made After Two-Month Investigation in Gilmer County
James Calvin Sluder Jr.

James Calvin Sluder, Jr., 49, was arrested on February 26th following a two-month investigation by GCSO Deputies and Detectives assigned to the GBI ARDEO (Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office) and FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

Arrest warrants were executed at Sluder’s residence on Quarles Lane, where a subsequent search revealed:

  • 5.6 ounces of Methamphetamine packaged for distribution.
  • 1.8 pounds of Marijuana.
  • A “ghost gun,” a fully-automatic AR-15-style rifle equipped with a sound suppressor.

Sluder has been charged with the following felonies:

  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine (4 counts)
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Illegal Firearm / Parts (2 counts)
