Arrest Made in January 2024 Forest Avenue West Homicide

Khalid Rashid Harper has been arrested and charged with Murder in connection with the death of 61-year-old Mitchell Edward Wells.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office CID Investigators served the arrest warrant on Harper, who was identified as a suspect in the incident that occurred on January 23, 2024, at 2:17 a.m. in the 4000 block of Forest Avenue West.
Investigators connected Harper to the shooting death of Wells. Harper is currently in custody at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Harper was previously apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force on May 15, 2024, for the shooting death of Rashad Reddick, which occurred on April 19, 2024. His bond was denied in that case.
Background:
On January 23, 2024, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call regarding an unresponsive person in the roadway on Forest Avenue West. Upon arrival, they found a white male, later identified as Mitchell Edward Wells, suffering from what appeared to be a single stab wound. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Wells was believed to be homeless.
