Remains of Missing UK Man Found in Georgia by FBI Jacksonville Division

The FBI Jacksonville Division has located the remains of 32-year-old Alex Hodgson Doughty, a UK citizen who went missing in North Florida in 2022. The remains were found on February 4, 2025, in a wooded area on private land near Kingsland, Georgia.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner confirmed Mr. Doughty’s identity. No criminal charges are expected in connection with his death.
Mr. Doughty was visiting North Florida in September 2022 when his mother reported him missing to local police. Since then, numerous federal, state, local, and international agencies have collaborated in the search.
“While we had hoped to bring Mr. Doughty’s family better news, we are thankful to be able to provide them with some closure,” said Special Agent in Charge Kristin Rehler. “This discovery is the direct result of our partnerships and special agents from FBI Jacksonville’s Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST), who were relentless in their efforts to narrow down potential search locations.”
The FBI’s CAST team played a crucial role by analyzing mobile communications and geolocation data, narrowing down potential search areas.
The Doughty family expressed gratitude to the volunteer search teams who assisted in six additional searches.
The investigation involved the FBI Jacksonville Division, State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, Thames Valley (UK) Police Department, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and Kingsland (Georgia) Police Department, with additional local law enforcement support
