Columbus Murder Suspect Captured in Alabama
On November 8, 2023, Columbus Police Officers responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of Harvey Avenue. They later discovered the crime scene took place inside of 1000 Linwood Boulevard (1st Class Tinting and Detailing).
On December 1, 2023, probable cause was established to issue murder warrants for Gerald Simpson, 30, on charges of Murder, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
On January 3, 2024, Simpson was arrested in Phenix City, Alabama on separate charges. On February 19, 2025, he was extradited to the Muscogee County Jail.
Simpson is currently facing charges of Murder, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime in connection with the November 8, 2023, incident.
