Detective Lauren Nalley of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department has been named The Cottage’s 2024 Child Advocate of the Year for her dedication to supporting children and families affected by trauma.

According to The Cottage Sexual Assault Center and Children’s Advocacy Center, “Detective Nalley embodies extraordinary dedication in supporting children and families through trauma-informed investigations. Her tireless work behind the scenes ensures families receive crucial resources for healing.”

Detective Nalley emphasized the importance of her work, stating, “I believe the work that we do at the Family Protection Center is vital because we provide a unique approach to crimes of a sensitive nature to better serve members of our community.”

The Cottage serves Clarke County, providing crisis support and resources to survivors of sexual assault and child abuse. The organization operates a 24/7 crisis hotline and offers educational programs, intervention services, and public awareness efforts within schools, churches, and other community agencies.
