Gunman Sought in Armed Robbery at Duluth Check-Cashing Business

The Gwinnett County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a check-cashing business in unincorporated Duluth.

On January 14, around 9:15 a.m., officers responded to a robbery at 3675 Satellite Blvd. According to 911 dispatch, an armed individual attempted to rob the business and fired at least one gunshot through the front door before fleeing on foot.

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and interviewed witnesses. A victim told police that after she entered the business, a suspect—described as a Black male wearing a white jacket and a face mask—began banging on the lobby door. He then pointed a firearm at her and demanded she open the door. When she pressed the panic button, the suspect fired a shot, shattering the glass. Once inside, he demanded access to the safe, but after the victim informed him she could not open it, he fled.

Two days later, on January 16, a suspect matching the same description attempted to rob another check-cashing business in Smyrna. Investigators from Gwinnett County Police and Smyrna Police believe the same individual is responsible for both incidents.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Gwinnett County Police detectives at 770-513-5300. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com. A cash reward is available for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
