Man Arrested After Gas Station Altercation Leads to Gun Discharge in Gwinnett County

A 30-year-old Gainesville man was arrested after an altercation at a gas station led to a firearm discharging and injuring another man.

On January 29, 2025, officers from the Gwinnett County Police Department’s Central Precinct responded to reports of a shooting at 2090 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in unincorporated Suwanee. Upon arrival, officers found a victim with a head wound who initially claimed he had been shot by an unknown male. Emergency personnel transported him to a local hospital.

Detectives reviewed video evidence and determined that the victim had not been shot but was instead struck with a firearm, causing it to discharge. The altercation began after the two men shoulder-checked each other inside the gas station.

Investigators identified the suspect as Isaac Hernandez, 30, of Gainesville. With assistance from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez was arrested in Gainesville without incident. He is currently booked into the Gwinnett County Jail and faces charges of aggravated assault, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
