Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have arrested 45-year-old Akbar Mohammed Harclerode of Macon in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on January 16, 2025, on Gledhill Street.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Gledhill Street and Willow Lane on January 23, 2025, where they discovered 37-year-old Maurice Jerome Butler lying unresponsive on the ground with a severe head injury. Paramedics transported Butler to a medical facility, where he remains in critical condition.

Witnesses reported that Butler had been involved in an altercation with another man before the assault. Video evidence showed a gray vehicle fleeing the scene, which investigators later identified as belonging to Harclerode.

Harclerode abandoned the vehicle, leading to a brief foot pursuit before his apprehension. He was transported to Investigations Headquarters for questioning before being booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Harclerode has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery and is currently being held without bond.
