Suspect Arrested After Burglary and Home Invasion in Eastanollee

On January 9, 2025, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Rumsey Road in Eastanollee. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the male suspect had fled on foot before their arrival. Despite a search involving deputies and a K-9 unit, the suspect was not immediately located.
Later, deputies received a tip that the suspect might be residing in a nearby warehouse building. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained a search warrant for the premises. The Sheriff’s Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), along with deputies from the Patrol Division, the S.T.I.N.G. Unit, and agents from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, coordinated the search.
While searching the building, law enforcement officers found and apprehended the suspect, 52-year-old Anthony Carey of Eastanollee, without incident. Carey was transported to the Stephens County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including Home Invasion in the 1st Degree, Aggravated Assault, Burglary in the 1st Degree, Terroristic Threats and Acts, and Simple Battery.
