Suspect Arrested After Shooting and Pursuit Near Albany Walmart

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, Albany Police officers responded to a reported shooting at Walmart Neighborhood Market, located at 2586 N Slappey Boulevard. Witnesses at the scene stated that a black male was seen shooting at a white male in a purple Tahoe. The suspect then fled the area in a white Lexus.

The altercation continued as officers located the purple Tahoe shortly afterward. When the vehicle fled, officers engaged in a brief pursuit, which ended behind 2505 N Slappey Boulevard. Inside the vehicle, officers found the driver, identified as William Larry Hagan, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his left side. Hagan was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he is currently being treated.

A short time later, officers located the white Lexus nearby. Its registered owner, Joseph Jackson Jr., contacted authorities to report the vehicle stolen. During an interview with investigators, Jackson admitted to shooting at the Tahoe. He was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Dougherty County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
