Five Hospitalized After Carbon Monoxide Leak Forces Full Evacuation of Atlanta Hotel
Three adults and two children were hospitalized following a carbon monoxide incident at the Residence Inn Atlanta, located at 134 Peachtree St. NW, on Friday, January 3, 2025. AFRD Assistant Chief Greg Gray confirmed that one individual was transported unconscious, but could not provide specific details about their conditions.
The emergency began when two children were found unresponsive, prompting a 911 call. They were eventually roused and taken to the hospital along with the adults.
A full evacuation of the hotel was carried out, with 100 of the hotel’s 160 rooms occupied at the time. AFRD crews worked to ventilate the building, using fans from the ground floor to the roof, to restore safe air quality. Once normal readings were confirmed, the hotel premises will be handed back to management.
