On December 24, 2024, shortly before 4 a.m., Gainesville Police responded to a shooting at an encampment near Dorsey Street. Two victims were shot, and the suspect fled the scene.
Ashley Marie Hill of Gainesville was pronounced dead at the scene. Marcus Robinson, 36, also of Gainesville, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.
Witnesses and other camp occupants helped police quickly identify 37-year-old Demetrius Few of Gainesville as the suspect. Few was located and taken into custody by Gainesville Police and Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies shortly after the shooting.
Few has been charged with Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault and is being held at the Hall County Jail. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
