Sheriff David Davis and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office have issued a list of safety tips to help ensure residents and their families enjoy a safe holiday season.
Shopping Safety
- Stay alert in crowded areas and avoid overloading yourself with packages.
- Shop with friends for added safety and be cautious of strangers approaching you.
- Lock your vehicle and hide valuables in a trunk or compartment when parking.
Online Shopping Safety
- Use secure websites with “https” in the URL and keep your devices updated with the latest security software.
- Avoid making purchases on unsecured wireless networks.
Home Safety
- Lock all entry points when leaving or staying home.
- Keep gifts out of view from windows and set lights on timers to give the appearance of occupancy.
Package Safety
- Have packages delivered to a workplace or a trusted person who can receive them.
- Use doorbell cameras to monitor deliveries.
Travel Safety
- Notify a trusted individual about your travel plans and have someone retrieve your mail and newspapers.
- Check weather conditions before traveling and exercise caution while driving.
