Arrest warrants have been issued for Ira Troy Williams, 51, wanted for Aggravated Assault against a police officer after firing at Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Troopers during a car chase on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

The incident began around 1:45 p.m. when a GSP Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound on Interstate 85. Williams, who provided his driver’s license during the stop, fled the scene, prompting a high-speed chase involving GSP Troopers and Coweta County Deputies.

During the pursuit, Williams reportedly fired multiple shots at law enforcement officers. Troopers returned fire, and the chase ended near Highway 29 at Calico Loop in Grantville, where Williams abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby woods while continuing to fire his weapon.

A GSP K-9 Officer was injured in the exchange of gunfire and treated at a veterinary hospital before being released. No other Troopers were injured. It is unclear whether Williams sustained injuries during the incident.

Williams remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
