Atlanta 19-year-old Charged with Murder in September Shooting on Metropolitan Parkway

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Atlanta Police Homicide detectives secured arrest warrants for 19-year-old Kortez Deshawn Ragland of Atlanta in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on September 23, 2024. Ragland faces charges of Felony Murder, Malice Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Ragland was already being held at Fulton County Jail on unrelated charges.

The shooting occurred at approximately 12:06 p.m. on September 23rd, when Atlanta Police Zone 3 Officers responded to reports of a person shot at 875 Metropolitan Pkwy. SW. Upon arrival, officers found two males who had sustained gunshot wounds. An 18-year-old male was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, while the second male was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The investigation into the incident led to the issuance of the arrest warrants for Ragland.
