Augusta 66-year-old Man Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Involving Pedestrian
On December 9, 2024, at approximately 5:38 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal pedestrian accident at the intersection of Murphey Rd and Milledgeville Rd. Deputies discovered that a pedestrian, 47-year-old Malcolm Leonard Kelly, was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. The driver fled the scene, and the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
By 9:10 p.m., authorities identified the driver as 66-year-old Anthony Way of Augusta, Georgia. He was arrested and charged with Homicide by Vehicle (Felony), DUI, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Felony). The investigation remains ongoing.
