White County Public Safety Responds to Multiple Fires on December 8th

White County Public Safety responded to three separate fires on Sunday, December 8, 2024, including a chimney fire, a residential structure fire, and a brush fire. Below are the details of each incident:

10:10 AM – Chimney Fire in Skylake Community:
White County 911 received a call about a chimney fire in the Skylake Community in Sautee. White County Fire Services, EMS, and the Helen Fire Department quickly responded. First responders confirmed an active chimney fire and initiated mitigation efforts. No injuries were reported.

1:46 PM – Residential Structure Fire in Mountain Lakes Community:
At 1:46 PM, a report came in from a neighbor about a fire, initially believed to be a fence fire, which later spread to a nearby residence. Firefighters arrived at a two-story home on Magnificent Way, finding it fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread to nearby brush and structures. White County Fire Services, EMS, and several other agencies worked to extinguish the blaze, while evacuating exposed structures. The fire was under control by 6:53 PM, and no injuries were reported. The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.

5:46 PM – Brush Fire Near Highway 129 N and Robert Jarrard Road:
A brush fire near Highway 129 N and Robert Jarrard Road was reported by a passerby. Firefighters, supported by Georgia and U.S. Forestry, contained the fire which affected approximately one acre. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
