Man Caught Attempting to Break Into Macon Family Dollar
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a man early Tuesday morning following an attempted burglary at the Family Dollar located at 2529 Houston Avenue.
At approximately 12:21 a.m., investigators patrolling the 2500 block of Houston Avenue heard suspicious noises coming from the rear of the store. Upon investigation, they found a man attempting to break into the store’s rear doors with an axe.
When investigators approached, the man fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. After a brief chase, he was apprehended without incident.
The suspect, identified as 57-year-old Elvis Lester Hill of Macon, was taken to Investigation Headquarters before being transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Hill faces charges of Second-Degree Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary, Second-Degree Criminal Damage to Property, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers. He is being held without bond.
