Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Marijuana, Scales, Firearms, and Cash in Atlanta

On November 16, 2024, Atlanta Police Zone 2 Crime Suppression Unit officers conducted a traffic stop near 1700 Defoor Avenue NW for a window tint violation, which led to the discovery of drugs, firearms, and cash.

During the stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The occupants, identified as Eric Bell and Nicholas Thompson, were detained as officers conducted a search of the vehicle.

The search uncovered 1,490 grams of marijuana in various forms and packaging, 17 digital scales, a Glock 33, a Glock 19X with a 30-round extended magazine, and $2,573 in cash.

Nicholas Thompson was charged with a window tint violation, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Eric Bell was charged with a seatbelt violation, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The investigation remains ongoing.
