On Tuesday, November 19, the Macon-Bibb County Commission unanimously approved a one-time retention pay adjustment for all part-time and full-time county employees.

Proposed by Mayor Lester Miller, the initiative allocates up to $3 million from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Full-time employees will receive $1,500, while permanent part-time employees will receive $500. The bonus applies to employees who have been with the county since July 1, 2024, or earlier.

“This is a small way of showing our appreciation for the hard work and dedication our employees show each and every day,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “I am so proud of these great people who make up Team Macon-Bibb!”

The bonuses will appear on paychecks dated December 13, 2024, and will be treated as regular wages, including for the calculation of retirement benefits. The payments are subject to standard tax withholdings, with any requested adjustments to withholdings requiring 30 days to process.
