Woman Shoots Man in Self-Defense After Roadside Altercation in Rockdale County
On November 12, 2024, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) deputies responded to a reported shooting around 6:45 a.m. near Highway 20 SE and Kay Terrace in Conyers, GA. At the scene, deputies located a 30-year-old woman and three children but found that the shooting victim, identified as Mr. Elmore, had left the area.
The investigation indicates that the incident began as an argument between the woman and Mr. Elmore, escalating as they traveled in a vehicle together out of Rockdale County. When the argument turned physical, Mr. Elmore allegedly exited the vehicle and began attacking the woman. During the altercation, she retrieved her firearm and shot Mr. Elmore in self-defense.
Despite being injured, Mr. Elmore fled the scene in the vehicle, leaving the woman and the children by the roadside. Using tracking resources, RCSO deputies located Mr. Elmore at his mother’s residence in Ellenwood. After being taken into custody, Mr. Elmore was transported to Grady Hospital for medical treatment and remains in RCSO custody.
