Missing 89-Year-Old Woman in Marietta Found Deceased After Extensive Search
After an intensive search, 89-year-old Patricia Miele, who went missing from an assisted living and memory care facility on November 9, was found deceased on the morning of November 11, floating in a pond at nearby Kennesaw Memorial Park. The search effort was led by Marietta Police Chief David Beam and involved officers, detectives, deputies, park rangers, canines, drones, and the Georgia State Patrol helicopter.
Over the last two days, law enforcement agencies, including the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, Cobb County Police Department, and federal park rangers, conducted a comprehensive search. Personnel covered nearby neighborhoods, wooded areas, and local establishments, and used grid searches, K-9 units, thermal cameras, and watercraft. High school grounds, Miele’s previous residence, and her assisted living facility were also searched multiple times.
The Marietta Police Department used social media, press releases, and a Mattie’s Call alert to involve the community, who responded by joining the search and spreading awareness. Chief Beam expressed deep condolences to Miele’s family, stating, “In Mrs. Miele, we saw our own mothers and grandmothers… While that wasn’t the outcome, know that our efforts were genuine, thorough, and led by a servant’s heart.” He also thanked the community and law enforcement for their efforts.
Miele’s passing has left Marietta in mourning, and Chief Beam requested continued prayers for her family during this time.
