Chickamauga Man Sentenced to 15 Years Following Meth Discovery at Accident Scene
Wesley Bohanon

Wesley Bohanon, a Chickamauga native, has been sentenced to 15 years in connection with a 2022 incident involving a head-on collision and drug-related charges on LaFayette Road near Chickamauga Battlefield.

In October 2022, Bohanon was involved in a head-on crash on LaFayette Road. A U.S. Park Ranger investigating the scene learned that Bohanon had fled into nearby woods immediately following the collision, leaving behind a small plastic container containing white crystals. Upon further inspection, the ranger discovered Bohanon was carrying a loaded .40 caliber handgun, small plastic baggies, $500 in cash, colored powder, and 25.8 grams of methamphetamine.

Bohanon was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and taken to the Catoosa County Jail. A subsequent search of his cellphone, authorized by warrant, provided further evidence supporting the charge.

In Catoosa County Court, Bohanon received a 15-year sentence, with the first seven years to be served in confinement and the remaining eight on probation. He is currently held at Clayton County Correctional Institution.

Chickamauga Battlefield, part of a national military park, is preserved to honor the Battle of Chickamauga and the lives lost there. Drug violations and weapons offenses within the park are prosecuted to the fullest extent under federal and state laws.
