Man Arrested for $1.3 Million Ticket and Real Estate Scam Across Georgia
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Matthew Timothy Neet and charged him with Theft by Deception after an investigation revealed he had been scamming victims across the state. Neet allegedly advertised University of Georgia (UGA) football tickets for sale online, convincing a buyer to purchase them. However, the tickets did not exist.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered this was not an isolated incident. Neet had been involved in a much larger scheme, selling non-existent tickets for events like concerts and even real estate. The total amount defrauded from victims has reached over $1.3 million.
Neet’s fraudulent activities reportedly spanned several months, affecting more than 30 victims across Georgia. His past offenses were also uncovered during the investigation, revealing a history of similar scams.
Neet was arrested in Louisiana last week and was extradited to the Jones County Jail on Tuesday, November 5th. He has been denied bond and currently faces charges in multiple jurisdictions. The investigation into Neet’s fraudulent activities continues, and additional charges may be filed.
