Rabid Raccoon Confirmed in White County After Contact with Two Dogs
White County Environmental Health confirmed a rabies case involving a raccoon that recently had contact with two dogs in the Woodlawn Dr. area. The raccoon, tested at the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur, was confirmed rabid on November 7, marking the second rabies case in the county this year.
Alert signs will be posted in the affected area. Residents with concerns about exposure to rabid animals are urged to contact White County Environmental Health at 706-348-7698 during business hours. Pet owners are encouraged to vaccinate their animals by scheduling appointments with local veterinarians.
