Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Partners with AMAC and MBDA to Empower Minority-Owned Businesses

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) announced a significant partnership with the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU was signed on Tuesday, October 22, at the Georgia World Congress Center during the National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week, marking a collaborative effort to empower minority-owned businesses in the aviation industry and beyond.

This strategic partnership aligns with the missions of both organizations to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering economic growth and enhancing competitiveness for minority business enterprises (MBEs). AMAC and MBDA will collaborate on initiatives aimed at improving access to business opportunities for MBEs, which will include hosting events and educational programs designed to equip these businesses with the necessary tools to succeed in the aviation sector.

Interim General Manager Jan Lennon stated, “This partnership with AMAC and MBDA exemplifies former Mayor Maynard H. Jackson Jr.’s legacy of economic inclusion and creating a diverse, dynamic community that fuels the success of minority-owned businesses in ATL.” Current Mayor Andre Dickens’ vision for Atlanta aims to cultivate an environment where innovation and opportunity thrive for all entrepreneurs.

AMAC President Eboni Wimbush emphasized the organizations’ joint commitment to empowering minority-owned businesses, stating, “Together, we will create pathways to opportunity by reducing barriers, enhancing access to capital, and creating a vibrant ecosystem where diverse entrepreneurs can flourish and drive economic growth.” She noted that partnering with airports like ATL is essential for achieving shared goals that promote success for minority-owned businesses.

The MOU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including:

  • Hosting national and regional events that bring together public and private sector stakeholders to discuss diversity in the aviation industry.
  • Providing technical assistance and networking opportunities for MBEs.
  • Promoting awareness of each organization’s programs and resources to expand their national reach.

This partnership marks a milestone in ATL’s commitment to supporting diverse business ecosystems, enhancing economic growth, and upholding the values of equity and inclusion across all aspects of its operations.
