11-Year-Old Middle School Student in Newton County Arrested for Making Terroristic Threats

On October 2, 2024, Newton County deputies arrested an 11-year-old male student from Indian Creek Middle School in Covington, GA, for threatening another student. The student has been charged with terroristic threats and acts, and his case will be transferred to the Juvenile Court System.

Sheriff Ezell Brown emphasized that threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and urged students and parents to be mindful of their actions. The Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Newton County School System, remains committed to maintaining a safe learning environment and encourages the reporting of any suspicious behavior or concerns.
