Homicide Suspect Escapes Custody at Grady Hospital, Atlanta Police Launch Manhunt
UPDATE: On October 16th, 2024, Carwon Marqavious Redding was captured by Fugitive Detectives with assistance from Georgia State Patrol, other members of the Fugitive Unit, SERFTF, and officers from Zone 4.

The Atlanta Police Department reported that an adult male arrestee escaped custody while awaiting medical treatment at Grady Hospital on Friday, September 27th, around 2:00 PM. The escapee has been identified as 32-year-old Carwon Marqavious Redding.
Redding was originally arrested by MARTA Police on September 26th in connection with a homicide that took place on April 14, 2024, at 1980 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. He is facing serious charges, including felony murder and criminal attempt to sell cocaine.
Surveillance cameras captured Redding fleeing from Grady Hospital. Authorities have noted that he may have removed his clothing during the escape and could be wearing different attire. Atlanta Police are urging the public to report any discarded Grady Hospital gowns or bright yellow socks by dialing 911.
Officers are actively canvassing the area in search of Redding, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his escape is ongoing.
