Gwinnett County Jailer Accused of Misconduct, Faces Simple Battery Charge; Placed on Administrative Leave

On September 26, 2024, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office received reports of alleged misconduct involving Jailer Master Theresa Bell, a five-year employee. Following an investigation by the Jail Investigations Unit, Bell was found to have violated multiple department policies, leading to her being served with an intent to terminate and placed on administrative leave.

During the investigation, it was determined that Bell had committed the offense of Simple Battery. She is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail with bond.

Sheriff Keybo Taylor commented on the matter, stating, “Conduct of this nature will not be tolerated by our staff. I want the community to know that we hold our employees to the highest standards of professionalism. Employees should treat everyone they encounter with respect and dignity.”

The Professional Standards Section is overseeing the ongoing investigation to ensure the public’s best interest is served.
