Atlanta Police Provides Update on June Shooting at Peachtree Center Mall That Left Three Injured

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 2:24 PM, officers responded to reports of multiple people shot at 239 Peachtree Street SW. Upon arrival, they found a 47-year-old man, a 69-year-old woman, and a 70-year-old woman, all with apparent gunshot wounds. All three victims were alert, conscious, and breathing, and were quickly transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Police were able to locate a male suspect at the scene, identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Malone, who was found in possession of a firearm. Officers engaged Malone in a gunfire exchange, ultimately disarming and incapacitating him. He was also alert, conscious, and breathing after being struck by gunfire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Malone was placed into custody and faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children (3rd Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Reckless Conduct. He was subsequently transported to Fulton County Jail for processing.

The victims, all reported to be in stable condition, include Orlando Garcia of Decatur, GA, Deborah Hardy of Atlanta, and Donna Hardy of East Point, GA. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Ofc. Jacobs, while working an extra job at Peachtree Center Mall, was alerted to the sound of gunfire in the food court. Ofc. Jacobs confronted Mr. Malone, who was armed with a handgun. Mr. Malone did not comply with Ofc. Jacobs’ verbal commands and an exchange of gunfire took place. It was then discovered three citizens had been shot by Mr. Malone. All victims were transported to local hospitals and are in stable condition. Members of the Homicide Unit, GBI, OPS, and Fulton County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene. Inv. Francis will be the lead for the Homicide Unit. Special Agent Maddox will lead the investigation for the GBI. Mr. Malone was charged accordingly and transported to Fulton County Jail.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been notified and will be leading the investigation, which is currently ongoing.
