Bibb County Driver Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit and Altered Firearm Found

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputy monitoring traffic at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Newberg Avenue observed the driver of a blue SUV not wearing a seatbelt. The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated, turned into an apartment complex, and fled on foot.

The deputy pursued the driver and apprehended him behind a building at the complex. The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, was taken into custody after a brief struggle. The firearm was found to have an altered serial number.

The driver was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and faces multiple charges.
