On Wednesday, August 14, a deputy with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office S.T.I.N.G. Unit initiated a traffic stop on a black Nissan Titan for an incorrectly displayed tag. The driver, later identified as 57-year-old Tracy Holbrook of Carnesville, refused to stop, leading to a vehicle pursuit into Franklin County.

While patrolling Highway 17 near the Franklin and Stephens County line, the deputy was alerted by the FLOCK camera system about an expired tag on a black Nissan Titan. The tag did not match the vehicle, prompting the deputy to attempt a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 17 and Avalon Road. The driver initially slowed but then accelerated rapidly, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour and weaving through traffic. The pursuit continued into Franklin County, where deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were staged.

As Holbrook approached an intersection, a Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy made contact with the front driver’s side wheel of the truck, but it did not disable the vehicle. Holbrook continued fleeing onto Highway 106 and Red Hill Road, creating a dust cloud that impaired visibility. The deputy lost sight of the Nissan Titan near Burnette Road.

Backup from the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol was requested. Lt. Kylar Jameson from the SCSO located the vehicle behind 1980 Red Hill Road using a drone. The vehicle was found stuck on a mound of dirt in the backyard. K-9 Lady was deployed to track Holbrook, but the suspect could not be located.

While deputies searched the vehicle, they discovered illegal drugs, including two plastic baggies with suspected methamphetamine, suspected buspirone hydrochloride and Tramadol, a glass bowl with marijuana residue, a glass pipe, and a digital scale with suspected methamphetamine residue.

At Holbrook’s address, deputies found recently driven vehicles and a white Mustang matching the tag displayed on the Nissan Titan. Despite clearing the home and other buildings on the property and deploying K-9 Lady again, deputies could not locate Holbrook.

The investigation concluded with Holbrook’s truck being towed to the impound lot at the Stephens County Jail. Holbrook is wanted on active arrest warrants for two counts of Illegal Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession and Use of Drug-Related Objects, Prescription Drugs Not in Their Original Containers, Failure to Maintain Lane, Speeding in Excess of State and Zone Speed Limits, and Removing or Affixing License Plate with Intent to Conceal or Misrepresent.
