Armed Robbery Turns Fatal in Decatur, Teen Arrested

On August 7, the DeKalb County Police Department responded to a report of a person shot near 400 Woodberry Place in Decatur. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 23-year-old male victim lying in a stairwell with a gunshot wound. The victim later died from his injuries.

Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the suspect involved in the armed robbery that turned into a shooting. On August 8, 18-year-old Andrew Murphy was apprehended in possession of the weapon used in the murder, as well as property belonging to the victim. Murphy was taken into custody and is currently being held at the DeKalb County Jail. He faces charges of Murder and two counts of Armed Robbery.
