Macon-Bibb County Commissioners Approve Closure of Right-of-Way for DT Walton Project
Planned DT Walton Project

On Tuesday, August 6, Macon-Bibb County Commissioners voted to close an unnamed right-of-way that runs through the City Hall parking lot. This closure is intended to facilitate the DT Walton project, which will include the development of 140 loft units and a parking deck for both downtown visitors and County employees.

Director of Planning and Public Spaces and Urban Development Authority (UDA) Executive Director Alex Morrison stated, “We’re taking existing government property and making it into something that will benefit the public.” He further noted that the project aligns with the Macon Action Plan’s objective to revitalize Downtown Macon by transforming underutilized spaces.

The UDA is expected to finalize the agreement for the DT Walton project by the end of August. A groundbreaking is anticipated within six months, with the aim of having residents move into the lofts by early 2027.
