Appling County Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking

Christopher Eric Stone, 40, of Baxley, Georgia, has been sentenced to 68 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. The sentencing, announced by Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, also includes three years of supervised release following his prison term. There is no possibility of parole in the federal system.

Stone, who has a lengthy criminal history in Appling County, was apprehended by deputies from the Appling County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop where methamphetamine was discovered. He was later found in possession of methamphetamine again while on bond for state charges.

Stone’s prior convictions include drug trafficking and domestic violence. The case was investigated by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Southern District of Georgia Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley R. Thompson.
