High-Speed Pursuit in Bibb County Ends in Crash, Juveniles Injured

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call just after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11th, regarding an entering auto on Lamar Road. The witness provided a description of the vehicle involved, leading deputies to locate the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer on Napier Avenue. The vehicle had been reported stolen on July 10, 2024, at 4:00 a.m.
A deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and accelerated, initiating a vehicle pursuit. As the pursuit continued on Mercer University Drive, a Georgia State Patrol unit joined and performed a PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to collide with a utility pole at the intersection of Mercer University Drive and Burton Avenue.
The 17-year-old male driver, identified as Jakhori Jamal Woolfolk, attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. Upon inspection of the vehicle, deputies found ten passengers, all juveniles. A 17-year-old female passenger, identified as Yakerria Jones, was removed from the vehicle and received medical aid. She is reported to be in stable condition.
The remaining occupants were extracted and transported to the hospital for evaluation. Among them, two 13-year-old males, a 12-year-old male, and a 14-year-old male were airlifted to the Children’s Hospital in Atlanta in critical condition. An 11-year-old male is receiving treatment at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three of the juveniles, aged 12, 13, and 14, were transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center and charged with theft by receiving stolen property and entering auto. Jakhori Woolfolk was taken to the Bibb County jail and charged with theft by receiving stolen property-auto.
