Three-Year-Old Child Hospitalized After Drowning Incident at West Point Lake
On July 1, 2024, at 6:22 p.m., deputies from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Yellow Jacket Beach on West Point Lake following reports of a possible drowning. Dispatch informed the deputies that a three-year-old child had been pulled from the water and CPR was being performed by citizens on the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies and other first responders took over lifesaving measures. The child was subsequently airlifted to an Atlanta area hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The incident appears to be a tragic accident.
