Bryan County Man Arrested After Pointing AR-Style Rifle at Georgia State Trooper During Traffic Stop

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. — A Bryan County man who allegedly threatened a Georgia State Patrol trooper with an AR-style rifle after refusing to comply with a traffic stop was arrested Monday, October 26, 2026, following a three-day investigation.
Cassius Hardel Gray, also known as “Gray Empire,” faces three felony charges and a misdemeanor stemming from the October 23 confrontation at a residence along Georgia Highway 119 North.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the incident began around 5:30 p.m. Friday when a trooper attempted to stop a black Cadillac Escalade traveling on Georgia Highway 119 for a suspected violation of Georgia’s Hands-Free Law.
The driver refused to stop and continued traveling before eventually pulling into the driveway of a home at 5991 Georgia Highway 119 North.
Driver Claimed to Be Federal Agent Before Fleeing Into Home
Authorities said Gray refused repeated commands from the trooper to remain inside his vehicle.
Instead, he exited the Escalade and claimed to be a federal agent before running into the residence and closing the door.
A short time later, the trooper observed the home’s front door reopen.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Gray appeared at the doorway holding an AR-style rifle and chambered the firearm.
The trooper immediately moved away from the residence and took cover.
Multiple Agencies Responded to Armed Standoff
Additional officers from state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies responded to the property.
A negotiator with the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact Gray through his known cellphone number while officers at the scene worked to secure his peaceful surrender.
After several hours, Georgia State Patrol command staff decided to obtain arrest warrants and take Gray into custody at a later time under safer conditions.
