Washington County Drug Bust and Law Enforcement Sweep Yield Arrests
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office made significant progress in an ongoing investigation. While following up on a previous crime, deputies arrived at an abandoned house and found several males in the yard. The individuals were in possession of marijuana, cocaine, assorted prescription pills, and a large amount of cash. Two males were arrested and charged.
In another major operation this week, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, a unified front of law enforcement agencies joined forces to enhance the safety of Washington County. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Sandersville Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigations, Middle Georgia Gang Taskforce, Georgia State Patrol, and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision conducted a concentrated patrol in the county.
This collaborative effort resulted in numerous citations and warnings, eight arrests, the seizure of drugs, and the removal of one firearm from the streets.
“As I’ve emphasized before, our commitment to proactive law enforcement remains unwavering. We are dedicated to protecting the law-abiding citizens of Washington County and will continue to do so with vigilance,” said Sheriff Joel Cochran.
