Mother Arrested for Child Neglect After Toddler Found Wandering Unsupervised Twice

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office S.R.T. Unit deputy responded to a concerning situation off Rocky Creek Road after being flagged down by concerned neighbors. The neighbors had found a child, dressed only in a white tank top and a wet diaper, and had taken the child into their care.

This wasn’t the first time the child had been found unsupervised; just two days earlier, the same child was discovered walking along the roadway alone. Upon investigation, deputies contacted the mother, who claimed she had been asleep during the incident. She mentioned installing new door locks to prevent the child from wandering off.

The 26-year-old mother was taken into custody on a charge of Reckless Conduct for failure to adequately supervise the child, especially given the recurrence of such incidents. She was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for processing. The child was safely handed over to the father’s care.
