Bainbridge Woman Arrested on Fraud and Elderly Exploitation Charges
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged LaShonda Johnson, 46, of Bainbridge, Georgia, with ten counts of Financial Transaction Fraud and two counts of Exploitation and Intimidation of Disabled Adults.
On March 21, 2024, Bainbridge Public Safety requested the GBI’s assistance with an investigation following multiple complaints received at Johnson’s Personal Care Home and Johnson’s Private Care Home on the 1000 block of Hall Street. During the investigation, agents determined that Johnson was associated with these homes.
The investigation revealed that Johnson was allegedly misusing the finances of some residents staying at her care homes. Johnson was already in the Decatur County Jail on unrelated charges when she was served with the arrest warrants and booked.
The case is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the GBI Investigative Office in Thomasville at 229-225-4090 or Bainbridge Public Safety at 229-248-2038. Upon completion, the case will be referred to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
