Macon-Bibb County Seeks Public Input for Gray Highway Safety Improvements

Macon-Bibb County Traffic Engineering Division, in collaboration with The Middle Georgia Regional Commission, seeks public input for enhancing safety measures along Gray Highway. Identified as a priority in the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, Gray Highway is one of the Focus Corridors under scrutiny. Efforts extend to surrounding streets within Macon-Bibb County’s purview.

To address safety concerns, the entities are pursuing funding through the Safe Streets for All grant program. Administered by the Federal Highway Administration, this initiative supports regional, local, and Tribal projects aimed at curbing roadway fatalities and severe injuries. Aligning with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Roadway Safety Strategy, Macon-Bibb County is committed to achieving zero roadway deaths through a Safe System Approach.

The City of Macon encourages residents to participate by completing an online survey. Input from the community will inform strategies for enhancing traffic safety along Gray Highway and in East Macon.
