An Ohio man will spend the rest of his life in a Georgia prison cell for molesting a young family member several times from when she was 8 years old until she was 11.

Gwinnett County jurors on Thursday found 66-year-old Kevin McKenna guilty of aggravated sexual battery, and three counts of child molestation for incidents that occurred in 2019 in Lawrenceville and Loganville.

“No child should have to experience the terrible actions that this defendant practiced,” said Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson. “He took advantage of a child’s vulnerability and innocence and left her with life-changing damage. Our Special Victims Unit worked tirelessly to ensure that he pays the price for his crimes and to send a message that no one who preys on children for sex is safe in Gwinnett County.”

The female victim in 2021 reported that approximately three years before McKenna touched her thigh while driving her to a park in his Corvette, and on multiple occasion attempted to have sexual contact with her. She was 8 at the time.

Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Angela Duncan sentenced McKenna to life in prison plus 20 years, and he must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Assistant District Attorneys Nicole Eck and Scott Estes prosecuted the trial.
