DeKalb Police Capture Murder Suspects After Car Chase
DeKalb County Police NET officers successfully tracked down a stolen Acura linked to an armed robbery and murder that occurred on May 12. The incident unfolded at the Chevron gas station located at 4091 Redan Road in Stone Mountain, where Cequan James was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Despite efforts to save him, James succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
Identification of the victim was made by his mother, who called his phone while officers were still at the scene. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects approaching James, one of them armed. As James fell against his car door, the suspects fled the scene with his vehicle.
On May 15th, officers located the stolen vehicle at the Shell gas station on 1307 Brockett Road. The suspects attempted to evade capture by ramming two police vehicles but were swiftly apprehended. They have since been placed in custody at the DeKalb County Jail.
