Three Arrested in Columbus Hotel Raid: Guns and Drugs Seized

Columbus Police responded to a call at Budgetel Inn and Suites on April 29, 2024, around 1:30 p.m., leading to the arrest of three individuals. The Fugitive Unit joined patrol units to investigate a room.

Following the acquisition of a search warrant, the Fugitive Unit, alongside patrol and the Violent Crimes Unit, discovered two Glock handguns in the room. One handgun had been reported stolen and modified into a machine gun. Additionally, 26.8 grams of marijuana were seized.

The arrested individuals and their charges are as follows:

  1. Demetreus Heard: Charged with Criminal Damage to Property, a 2nd warrant, Battery Family Violence warrant, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Machine gun.
  2. Jamaal Scott: Charged with Violation of Probation, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Machine gun.
  3. William Brown: Charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug-Related Objects, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Machine gun.
