Gwinnett County Police Department Invites Students to Annual Youth Police Academy

Gwinnett County Police Department is excited to announce the return of its annual Youth Police Academy this summer. The program, aimed at middle and high school students, offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into law enforcement and community safety.

Running throughout June and July, the Youth Police Academy invites students to delve into various aspects of police work, from understanding local and state laws to experiencing practical demonstrations. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including CPR, emergency driving, crime scene investigation, and firearm safety.

The academy, which began in 2016, has been a resounding success, providing students with an engaging and informative experience. This year, the program will run for a week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Middle school sessions will take place from June 24 to 28, while high school sessions are scheduled for July 8 to 12.

Attendance is free for all Gwinnett County students entering 7th through 12th grades in August 2024. Interested students must undergo an application process and be selected to participate.
