Motorcyclist Killed in Macon Intersection Crash

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on April 14, 2024, at the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Sherry Drive. The accident, reported to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 7:06 p.m., involved a collision between a Chevy Malibu and a motorcycle.

The male driver of the motorcycle was transported to Atrium Navicent Health for his injuries. Identified as 61-year-old Lorenso Poole, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was not injured.

The next of kin has been notified by the coroner’s office. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to speak with a Fatality Investigator.
